Balloon catheter - A balloon catheter is a type of "soft" catheter with an inflatable "balloon" at its tip. It can be used during cardiac catheterization (heart cath) to perform angioplasty or balloon septostomy.
Balloon septostomy - Balloon septostomy is the widening of a foramen ovale, patent foramen ovale (PFO), or atrial septal defect (ASD) via cardiac catheterization (heart cath) using a balloon catheter. This procedure allows a greater amount of oxygenated blood to enter the systemic circulation in some cases of cyanotic congenital heart defect (CHD).
Foley catheter - Foley catheters are flexible (usually latex) tubes that are passed through the urethra during urinary catheterization and into the bladder to drain urine. They are retained by means of a balloon at the tip which is inflated with sterile water.
Urinary catheterization - In urinary catheterization, a urinary catheter, (such as a Foley catheter) is a slender plastic tube which is inserted through a patient's urinary tract into their bladder. A balloon located at the end of the catheter is then usually inflated with saline solution to prevent the catheter from slipping out.
